Giannis Koutrikas was born in Kalamata in the Peloponnese. The artist studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later returned to Greece where he was accepted at the Politecnon University of Arts in Athens (1982 – 1987). He was awarded the state sponsored scholarship (I.KY) for Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in France. He studied with Professor and artist Dimitri Mitaras. He also studied along side, renowned artist, Giannis Tsarouhis until 1989.
From 1982 Giannis Koutrikas’ work has been exhibited and can be encountered in numerous galleries and auctions in Greece and abroad, also in the museum of the City of Athens Vouros-Evtaxias. His art works are in many Art Collectors’ private collections, throughout the world.
He has been working closely with the art center Fine Arts Kapopoulos since 1997 which promotes his work in Greece and abroad, where Giannis Koutrikas states that their collaboration continues to be stable and constructive.
